so many lurkers and no comments?
I was just informed by a very smart person that I directed the question of "why can't some people leave a comment here on my blog. I've had lots of people try unsuccessfully, and just give up?"
Here is the response...let me know if it works for anyone.
Let me know if this fixes the problem. If indeed there is one.
You can change your comment form to the pop up type. That way people using IE won't have trouble commenting. An added benefit to the pop up form is people don't "leave" your page, so they are encouraged to read your blog further and possibly leave more comments.
ReplyDeleteYou can also get rid of the captcha code generator to encourage more comments. That added step is more of a hindrance than anything...just change your settings so only people with an ID can comment - no anonymous.
If you need help changing these settings I will be happy to give detailed instructions:

Well, I don't know if Daffycat's suggestions will help. But I have comments come up in a pop up and I like that. You can also put the pop up down while you go back and re-read something you want to comment on. I also removed the captcha. I get an email when there is a comment to moderate. I also delete all emails from anonymous hence their comments remain in moderation which I periodically empty. Its not that much trouble.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's summer and I think a lot of people don't want to miss a post, but are less likely to take the time to comment.
Just a guess!

Oh, I forgot. I think a lot of readers switched to blog lovin to read their list. I have heard a lot of comments say they can 't post comments from the list.
ReplyDeleteI still use and love my dashboard for a list of new posts.
xx, again.
