Chatelaine Purse

Here is the whole thing in it's last few stages.                                                                                                                                        The Design is Ann Beck embroidery's.                                    I fell in love with that little bird and cribbed it from her web     page and boy what a page! Go look!                                                                                                                                                       I used a sticky side embroidery transfer page for the design                                                                                                               I don't know if I recommend them or not                                     The pro's are; You can trace the design easy-peasy                  peel and stick, and re-stick a couple of times.                         if you screw it up the first time, even then it hangs on well to the fabric.                                                                                          The cons are;  it also stickies up your needle as it goes through the fabric, making it a bit of a challenge if that fabric is a all slubby or thick like this one is.                                                                                                                                                    I used this stuff on silk and velvet with cotton floss and didn't have as much of an issue with it as I did here, using all silks both fabric and thread, so keep that in mind.
SO!                                                                                                                                                                                                            All the embroidery is done,                                                                                                                                                                     I loosely back stitched all around the final shape I wan't it to have                                                                                                                                                                                                     all it needs now is the lining and a bit of machine work

I sewed the lining and main fabric all around the top, since it has a specific shape to fit the purse frame                                                                        Which has to be sewn into it by hand                                                                                               before, very awkwardly, sewing the right sides together at the bottom, leaving a space for turning then sewing it closed by hand                                                                                                                    < As you see here, I took care to knot each hole                                                                                        So that if one frays the whole thing doesn't fall off the frame, how embarrassing!

And here she is all together!

CQJP blocks and ....

I wanted to start my CQJP blocks earlier

I thought I had enough of that paisley fabric to do at least one block but no

I couldn't even find a lousy scrap to show
 what I was looking for!

Then whoopiee!
Of all places, I found it at Jo-anne's, at a deep discount! yay!

So I could finally start on the silly thing.
I got 2 blocks done yesterday, with more to come.

Because well I hate this part. it's a chore, that once done the fun can start!

While I was at it, I finished another little purse

Oh! I was published again, in Canadian embroidery, in Kerry's article on bullion stitch!
So, lots of stuff happening.

But that's the way it goes isn't it?

Sometimes, it feels like you can't get a single thing done and then bam! everything, all at once!

Now I need to start on the BJP and a RR I just got into, maybe do laundry.........

Published again!

Well sort of, it's an article called
"Herringbone Stitch and Variations" by Kerry Leslie,
in the latest issue of Embroidery Canada, in which she picked 2 pictures of my work!
That counts doesn't it?
                                            Hot'cha!
I'm going international, he-he!
although It's a guild membership to get the article so I won't be  able to see it in person (poo).  I did get a look at it, in the Crazy Quilting International Guild page, in which I am a member.
It's still exciting to see my work in print!

In other news I have finished a few things
or at least partially finished them.

this little bag was made to order for one of my daughters friends as a birthday present so I couldn't show it till it was given

new stuff for ETSY

Now I realize, it's just too dang early for christmas but well I have a few things finished and they just so happened to be themed that way.

the past few years I haven't been feeling all that chirstmassy at christmas time anyway.

I tend to be one of those people who gets stuff done, when I get it done (unless it's FOR somebody)

to top it all off its 50* and raining in the great NW.

if the furnace was still on it would have run this morning.

as it is I had to put on my fuzzies and a sweater.  -.- hello juluvember.

anyway enough grousing about the wacky weather, the little christmas pouches are cute aren't they...

the first one is just big enough for a small set of keys and a cell phone

the 3 girls is tiny 2"x2" so it can hold a small present &/or be hung on the tree.

the third one is another cell pouch that has room for keys and maybe one more item

I love the horse sleigh on this one.

though I will admit to going a little crazy with the snowflakes

the next piece is a ring pillow I only had half the lace heart motif so I had to stitch the rest of it.

I also put a bunch of beads on it.

the dragonfly's wings untie so the rings can be secured to the pillow

and the last pouch is just too frilly and pink for words.

not my usual colorway but I need to stretch myself now and again and do the frilly pink thing

hey not everyone is good at cutesy foo-foo! I have to practice at it!

this is what I have been up to so far, the blooms of summer

though there has been a lot of gardening as it has been unusually warm around here,

until yesterday that is

more on that later
