Meanwhile back at the ranch

Nothing is getting done.

I'm moving in and everything is on hold until I find that thing I need in a box somewhere...

the disorganization is making me itchy.

I got all the furniture in and adjusted

to where I think it will fit my needs best.

Now it's just a matter of finding a home for all of it

Then consolidating what had been in use and in storage.

Then I can start organizing by color/size/etc.

And THEN I can get back to making fun stuff.

 Though, between all this

I am trying to figure out how to use Beastie,        the Innova long arm.

It's a learning curve, that's getting curvier.

As of today I have emptied 18 bankers boxes!

Woo!

Fooling around with watercolors

there is a lot of doodling one must do

with watercolor paints to get them to work right

There is also a lot of brushwork

and water distribution

It's that last part that has been giving me the most trouble

to little and the paint skitters over the paper

leaving skid marks and empty spots

To much and it leaves puddles of color in odd places

that pool and dry with hard edges

to much water will also thin out the pigment
to almost invisibility

in an already transparent medium

Then there is the paper itself to worry about

mixed media paper is good to practice brush strokes

and color mixology, which is completely different than color theory

and your initial water retention on

but not good enough for actual pictures

because the paper will suck the water right out of your brush  till it gets pilly and weird

and any attempt at finesse will go right out the window

the leaning curve between too much water and not enough is

proving difficult

But rewarding

and it tickles my colorbone

I will leave you with a cat

or two

Sidetracked

 Just a little bit.

OK, a lot.

But in my defense it has been a busy few months,

with doctors appointments for the whole family to coordinate,

yardwork to avoid, Ahem, do.

and then t

here is this pesky new hobby

I seem to have picked up and obsessed over for the past month

Like I need another one.

I must admit making tiny furniture for a dollhouse,

I probably will never get around to making, has been curiously satisfying.

It's also excellent avoidance material,

turn on the music

 or your favorite audio book,

Try to find some semblance of peace While your government is

trying to burn down the world around our ears

ignore the chaos that is created by men of no conscience

and create.

Who's hiding?

Isn't that what I originally started crazy quilting for?

hmmmm.

You know how you start a project,

then you start another project and the first project never seems to get done?

Then suddenly you 10 projects scattered around the house.

And just as suddenly they are all done?

I'm not there yet,

to the done point, that is.

If it weren't for the whiskers I would not have seen her this morning!

but I will be

If only Molly would stop poning my chair.......
