Wichi-poo doll

 I don't know why I hadn't thought of this before

a bit thick I guess.


Isn't she sassy?

Her slippers are bats (of course)

her skirt and hat are both CQed

shes got an under skirt and her body is made from green dot cotton and barber pole stripes


So much fun this was!

I made up the pattern for her skirt and hat

as there really wasn't one in the Tilda pattern book I was using

and now I can't remember which one I used but I think it was the christmas one from last year.


 The one side I used a small lace motif and beaded it on and gave it a little fringe and some extra flowers




The other side has ribbon roses and a ghost bead though in the picture you can't quite see it

I had a hard time not getting blurry pics for this so excuse if they aren't up to snuff

there are skull beads all over the place and fringe and lace and ribbon and did I tell you how much fun I was having here?







I tried to keep it down to two colors besides the black silks and velvet's I used for the skirt









 Do you know how hard that is?

especially when the purples and browns were yelling at me from their boxes!






but I managed it, whew!

there is a lovely green spiderweb and a sparkly spider

a dangling skeleton

the ribbon roses all have a skull in their middles as a surprise guest!

but inspiration is like that sometimes



gone when you need it and on overload when you have a lot of other things to do!

Caskets for Halloween

Just something fun to celebrate samhain


As usual I find my mojo just in time to miss the holiday itself .

 I didn't finish these in time to sell them for halloween


but I get to enjoy them this year so It's not a total wash






I love how this side turned out on this one.


 you see even ghosts are afraid of spiders!

 this one is all blacks and greys somber elegance with feathers.


I can't be serious about everything, what would be the fun in life otherwise??

 though this stitch combination did turn out smashing, if I do say so myself!

 this one is a little plain but I thought,

with the bright orange sequins,

 anything more would have tarted it up a bit too much.

and they all have this wonderfully lush red satin linings. it contrasts so well with the stark black of the interior you can almost hear the hinges creak!

this one is my favorite though.

the bright center orange rose hides a stark white skull in its center surrounded by more roses and pumpkins fresh from the patch.

a candy corn flower, a key to the afterlife and a brilliant green spider finish it off.

This one is more off he traditional black witch's hat

i also tried for more uniformity in color so the hat wasn't to garish,



with just enough color to grab your attention


i love how the besom turned out don't you?


when we were in Pennsylvania dutch country for a vacation I remember barns having these sort of circles painted on their sides for protection from evil spirits

 this embroidery run reminds me of  corn fields just before they cut them down for feed

and one musn't forget the wise old owl or spooky cat

 another witchi-poo is done!



now i have 1 more to finish and a small something-I haven't decided yet what it should be.





any suggestions?  it's a 6" square approximately


 just as colorful as these lovely darlings


 but what should it be?
Purse, table mat, wall-hanging?
I don't know!

 anyway as you can see this one is much like the other spiders, dragonfly's, witchy sayings, pumpkins

these are fun to make, they are about 12"high and 10" in diameter  any size tussy mussy pattern will do (i used a dinner plate for the brim!)

then get out all the creepy bugs and spiders you can find and go to town!)

I lined these as well so in theory they can be worn all one would need to do is sew in a hair band or combs.
they are just big enough not to look silly!

and homecoming is coming up with all the dress drama and OMG! that that entails. it's to be semi-formal this year which means all the girls are wearing formals and all the boys are wearing what they can get away with!
dd's date has decided on skinny jeans and combat boots with the union jack on the toe and she has decided on a very nice midnight blue velvet with spangles and silver shoes. somehow I don't think he's going to win this one!)

well I've finished something and boy am I pleased with myself!
not as pleased as if I got more done but pleased none the less!)

I've made another witchi-poo hat this time 1/2 size.
more for decorating than wearing though I suppose you could,
it's not that small!



it's more of a cutsie version than my original but that one was for me and this one is for whomever gets to it first when I post it to ETSY.

some yellow SRE roses on it and on the brim
