Visiting  the Laconner Quilt Museum, with my crazy quilting group, in Late February,

 I took a lot of wonderful pictures of the crazy quilts they have on display.

 Including these lovely depictions of the house itself

 I thought I would share them with you all in dribbs and drabbs
 I took lots of pictures of many of the Crazy Quilts they have on display with a few detail pictures of each one.

 this one had some extensive aging damage, laddering silk and pieces that have just disintegrated with time so they hid that part behind a lamp. but the little bit of hand sewing and appliqué on it is lovely

 the wall paper in each room on the bottom floor was period and stunning

 they have restored the first floor as much as they could, since at one point during reconstruction there was an accident that burned down half the back end of the house!

Look at all the lovely details!
there are a bazillion on each one so I tried to keep it to a minimum.


this one had much in the way of seam treatments and not too many motifs so I picked the best ones

 In the kitchen they have tied to keep the look of it from the 1890's when the first owners lived here

the Laconner quilt museum is located in Laconner Washington. the town itself is a lovely place to visit too, right on the sound with lovely shops and beautiful views
and an annual quilt festival every year that the whole state participates in

Monk Work DONE!

 Done! I'm done, done, done, done, de-done, done, done, done!

woo-Hoo!

 I finished the ribbon and added a little soi de perlie, in a darker color to outline it all and make it look neat.

*it was looking a little ragged without lipgloss*

I added gold around the maltese, for a little extra pop as it was looking a little cold and lonely, hanging there all by it's self. 

I finished adding the beads at the bottom and the fleur de lis in between each cross.
It was supposed to have 8 but I couldn't find anything smaller than those so I only had room to use 4.

And now the whole thing is done!

Now it is on it's way to Uncle Gregg who will finish it and send it to Uncle Carl.
I'm fishing for approbation here folks, don't let me down.

I put a lot into this because Daddy would have wanted me to and Unkie Greg asked me to because he couldn't. I get NOTHING and have gotten nothing from this side of the family  EVER, not even a lousy birthday card
(not you Brookie you've been great!).

I just want to know if it passes, even though I am a godless heathen and watched "dexter" the whole time to keep my balance. there I said it.

You can all go, back about your business, ignore the crazy pouting in the corner.
I just need to stuff her back in her box.......
Family does one in, even if you don't talk to any of them.  weird.
Be back to my usual healthy, normal, cheerful, self in a few days

monk work-update

lest you all think I'm sitting on my hands here I thought I'd give y'all an update on how it's going

SLOW!     that's how it's going! agghhh!

4 hours it took me to go from the "e" to the "t" FOUR......and another 4 to get to the "b" and the "o"

and I thought I was getting sick of all that blue...though the gold is nice isn't it?

It's a sign for my DDH's office door at work.  some days he needs to get stuff done and people won't leave him alone to do it so I made him this sign....

yes, you read that right, it says "GO AWAY"  in the nicest terms possible....

a new toy

this past weekend, I went to the Puyallup sew expo with my girls and did some serious damage.

some vendors were gone, but most of my favorites were still there and one I thought was gone forever was back!

I didn't go over my budget (yes! she has some discipline!) though i
it's amazing how small my bags are!


along the way I ran across this little dazzler......

I got the info but didn't buy it there. I didn't want this to be my impulse purchase I regretted till I tossed it or gave it to someone who would love it more.

I went home and did my research,
my husband did research and got a friend roped into helping us do research.

then I went and bought it monday. Hubby approved!
 *rubbing hands together with glee* oooH boy! am I gonna have fun with this baby!

you can scan in what you want to cut even fussy shapes! you can keep it on the machine or a USB. It has like 700 shapes on board, you can use, already AND you can design your own!  woopee!

and since I had all the expo paperwork I got it all + a few extras at 20% off  *rubbing hands together in avarice* hehehehehe!
